When a DOCKING RTS-1<>JS-1 connection lives within a single vessel, and the connected parts get separated (e.g. via decoupler), the DOCKING mode stays ON, but the parts are not docked. The right behavior would be resetting the mode to UNDOCKED. Restoring docking mode as it happens for the other KAS links seems a bad idea here, since separation via decouplers or docking ports would likely mean an intention to have two separate vessels.
