Kerbals drifting or uncrontrolable after grabing a KAS item

This happens occasionally, but after a Kerbal grabs a container or any replaceable KAS item the Kerbal starts to drift away and is uncontrollable. After switching to the space center then back to the Kerbal, the Kerbal explodes (poof), then the screen goes blank and shows only the instruments with the altimeter counting odd numbers. I'm only guessing, but it could be a floating point (miscalculation?) issue. This also happened when trying to connect bases together. After I connected KAS the Kerbal drifted across the surface (Minmus in my case). I'll try to gather more info and see if the log recorded it.
