Pipes endpoint being carried by a Kerbal can be linked, causing madness and hilarity.

Using a specific series of actions it is possible to cause a pipe endpoint that a Kerbal has grabbed to link with an end point on a vessel, resulting in a hard linkage between the EVA Kerbal and the vessel. This seems to negate the vessel's mass, or at least the way EVA Kerbals are coded the mass is treated as insignificant. Due to the way KAS handles grabbed items, the Kerbal only suffers roughly the weight of the pipe endpoint itself, allowing the Kerbal to still walk, spin, jump, and generally have a grand ole' time, with whatever unexploded portions of the vessel survive. Oddly, the whole thing acts as a single vessel, as if the vessel became parts of the Kerbal on EVA, and you gain control over them, toggling landing gear, lights, engines, and even recieving the UI of mods associated with that vessel such as MechJeb.

To Recreate:

  1. Have a Kerbal on EVA
  2. Have at least one part near by (size does not appear to matter)
  3. Have at least two Pipe End Points
  4. Have at least one of those pipe end points on the part
  5. Have the other pipe end point on the ground near the kerbal

Here's the important part
6. Rightclick on the pipe endpoint on the ground
7. Either press G or the "Grab" button, but do not allow the UI to close
8. Press the "Link" button

  1. Rightclick the pipe endpoint that is on the part and select "Link"

Congratulations! Your chances of survival are now significantly lowered, you should probably party while you can.

Steps 6-8 and 9 can be swapped, it does not matter which pipe endpoint initiates the link, simply that the Kerbal-side one is not on the Kerbal's back at the time.

This glitch is due entirely to KAS not updating the context menu of the Pipe End Point to remove the Link option when it is picked up; the Link o

ption is not present if the Pipe End Point is on a Kerbal's back when it is right clicked, but if it moved onto a Kerbal's back while already open, the option is not removed, and remains operable.

Be especially careful with this glitch and large groups of pipe/KAS connected structures such as mun base, as they will all be subject to the Kerbal's whimsy, for the brief moment preceding their imminent destruction
