This happens in early career, there is nothing to rendezvous with ...
I just launched a sounding rocket.

Can you reproduce this reliably? I'm trying a fresh career game with a sounding rocket and cannot get this message to show. I assume you have the career parts turned off? were you on the map? or in flight? did you have something selected on the rendezvous tab?
