It would be nice if the ascent autopilot understood 2000x1000 in the "Orbit Altitude" box to mean that the desired end orbit is with a 2000km apoapsis and 1000km periapsis. This would mean only burning to the lower number for the circularization burn after the gravity turn.

This is a good idea and has been suggested before. I'm going to close this as a duplicate of #25 — feel free to add comments there.
