By selecting a Module action for adding and choosing the Ascend Autopilot Module it is possible to click on the eye button next to the + and through that get access to it before having researched the tech to actually be able to use it.

Then again, given that the Script Module has no throttle control, it's kinda evening itself out somewhat.
