KSP: 1.1 Prerelease build 1196
Problem: Using Rover AP, steering moves violently from left to right
Mods Installed: MJ dev574, Buffalo0.2.8, MM 2.6.21
Reproduction steps: Remove seats from prospector rover, put drone core on in correct (forward) orientation. Engage heading control and speed control.

Using different PID values for the heading controller fixed that for me,
also attaching the pod so that the nav ball is not on the side, just
mentioning that because I don't know if that's included in your
"correct" forward.
I used P 0.01, I 0.001, D 0.001 which can be adjusted in the Rover AP >
Waypoints > Waypoints Window > Settings.
Could need a bit of refining though as it still slightly oscilates.
Traction detection is also broken now, gotta fix that somewhen.
Overall am I surprised though how much still works despite the
wheelmodule being rewritten but I guess Sarbian tried to fix as much as
he understood, or someone else did, dunno.

I did the basic conversion to the new modules. The steering clearly need more work now...
