built for speed, the Harrier service VTOL is a useful craft for low altitudes.Equipped with new eject-able counterweights, it was designed to be very balanced at any given fuel level. Two jet engines provide a high VTOL thrust-to-weight ratio, and added stability enhancements allow for a quick but controlled takeoff. The intended purpose of the jet was to provide primary reconnaissance, or for quick pilot transfers between close-distance bases. The jet also proved useful for beginner VTOL pilots who needed a small vehicle with lots with power and control to compensate for errors.
