Implement Scoring System

Team-based games require a scoring system that is sensitive to more than just PvP and objectives. Players who are tasked with supporting their team or acquiring resources should have the potential to gain points just like their teammates, so that players can be effectively compared, even when their roles or tasks were not the same.

Using the TF2 Point system as a baseline, a system should be implemented that awards players for collecting resources, brewing potions, making food, crafting armor, and generally just being useful to their team. The end result should be that all players have equal opportunity for point value.

Idea: Team kills subtract points from the killer.

I wish I had relevant stats to add but THIS needs to happen if at all possible.

We've also pointed out in stream that just because you don't get the kill it doesn't mean you've been vital to make a winning situation possible through sheer harassment and forcing folks to dance about dodging and not shooting back at your teammate. So perhaps some way of quantifying "cover fire"

Ability to add comments or notes to players with significant contributions which are currently unquantifiable for zero points just a symbol next to their name with what was done and how it effected the game.

I'm just going to list some more events that could be considered as good team work. It's up to you to decide if you want them or not :D

Some small points should be awarded for lighting up the lane (like 1/10 to 1/20 of a point). A bit more points for destroying spawners although it's hard to give points to it because lighting it up also disables a spawner (at least until the light is there so maybe destroying it should be worth more...)

Also (when the TNT issue is fixed) some points should be awarded for destroying valuable blocks, like resource blocks / chests or placed objectives of the other team. If you want to go really far, they should get points if they blow up specific points maybe... Not sure how to determine these.. Maybe just points for the amount of destroyed blocks (with maybe bonus points for iron blocks / TNT / chests and stuff like that)?

Points for bridge building / ladder drops?

Points for defensive structures built? Would Cobblestone curtains count too?

Negative points for pain looping (not sure if we should do negative points though)? (dying in almost the same spot for 3 times in a row). If you want, I can add a symbol for this (too), in my mod. :D

Points for drinking milk when poisoned? Points for extinguishing yourself / somebody else with water / fire resistance potion. Healing? (And only with use of potions or also by keeping your food up?)

That's it for now. I can't really think of anything else anymore at the moment.
