it's cause you're comparing the CB version somewhere which seems really unecessary I guess.

I know... I use it to put out a message if there is a newer version for this cb version available or if somebody is running with a cb version which is higher than the version I compiled for.

do you have by any chance the log file for cb++ handy with the load statement?
