Why?

When you chat via Discord, unless you enforce a nickname scheme, a Discord user can change their nickname to any name they want momentarily, chat in the linked channel, and make it appear as if they are another person. This opens servers up to impersonation if people don't take the time to check who actually sends the message. Thus, a placeholder that returns the linked IGN of a Discord chatter would be useful for servers in which you cannot chat from Discord to Minecraft without being linked.

What and How?

It was mentioned to me in ticket 18301 that the PlaceholderAPI placeholder that already does this only works if you are online. Thus, having a dedicated placeholder in the plugin might be able to solve this.

Are there alternatives?

No but it isn't a big deal either.
