Created new quest in Quests folder but get errors during server start

Running latest spigot server 1.8 which seems to be running fine.
The EpicQuest plugin starts fine (default installation) using Vault as required.
I created the quest and placed a villager assigning that quest to him which works. When I click the npc I get the quest start text but then thats all, my questbook never updates to show that I have a quest in progress.
After such, if I restart the server I get the following error:
[19:46:31 ERROR]: Error occurred while enabling EpicQuest v3.5.4 (Is it up to date?)
java.lang.NullPointerException
