# This setting controls if a player is marked as active on interaction.
# When this setting is false, the player would need to manually un-AFK using the /afk command.
cancel-afk-on-interact: true
# Should we automatically remove afk status when a player moves?
# Player will be removed from AFK on chat/command regardless of this setting.
# Disable this to reduce server lag.
cancel-afk-on-move: true
I have had players report that they are put in AFK by the auto-afk setting despite moving, placing blocks, and opening chests / moving items around in a chest. Only the chat event (public chat or using a command) seems to cancel AFK.
Messaging players does not un-AFK.
Right click events (placing blocks / planting crops / opening chests) does not un-AFK.
Moving items in a chest does not un-AFK.
Walking takes about 7-8 steps before they are no longer marked AFK.
I kind of like the way it is now. Especially with messaging players, as I might once or trice glance at my minecraft client to reply to a few messages.
Players can AFK when being chased by a mob, or when falling into a lava lake and place blocks below, to effectively avoid their damage. And I guess this is a new kind of cheating. They should not be able to do anything when AFK.
