issue with /nick (repost as was closed but not solved)

hi, i currently have this on a few servers but since updating i am unable to change /nick,
i have * perms and i get the error message "nicknames can only have their color changed"
any advice?

You have to negate the essentials.nick.changecolor permission.

this still does not work with those with * permissions, the same error shows

There is no need to open a new issue report as closed ones still can be answered. The only thing that will happen here is that it will be closed and locked as duplicate.

@AcesGamingUK The files you find on Bukkit and Spigot are not necessarily the latest, but they are the recommended builds. Recommended builds are one that have mostly been tested and have fully implemented features, the latest one was rushed because it had an important glitch fix. When someone asks you to download the latest version of EssentialsX go to https://ci.drtshock.net/job/EssentialsX/
