The map render distance is pretty low. It makes certain areas look unfinished when the blocks behind the maps are rendered, but the image is not. Is there a fix for this?

This behavior is entirely controlled by the server and/or client. There might be some settings you can adjust there.

I recall Spigot or Paper having some entity tracker settings that are meant for that.
