To give a little more info, if you choose to have an item be consumed either for adhoc or stonetostone teleportation, if said item is in a stack in your hotbar and it is the selected item the teleport is allowed but no items are taken from the stack. It works fine if you have a singular item selected, or if the stack is located elsewhere in your inventory or not selected on your hotbar.
