I've been trying for a few days to get this plugin working on my server.

Can these permissions be added to the Essentials config file under Player Commands? If so, how? I've tried many different ways. I'd rather not get an actual permissions plugin, those have caused many problems for me in the past.

That would be a question for the Essentials folks. You pretty much need permissions to have SimpleClans features work.
