Users logging in with Minechat can see that invisible users are on

If a user logs in with Minechat, or some similar phone app they can see that there is one more user online than what's listed in the player list.

What does Minechat interface with for this info?

commented

So this logs into the server itself? I'll have to look into it.

I believe that it uses the same standard packets for info...

Many of our players use Minechat and MC Chat, but our server runs under
Bungee so I can't check that issue.

That's ok, I've asked players to stop using it, and I kick them if they don't move within 30 seconds of logging on. But I still don't like that it could be used to see that I'm on. :)

I don't have access to the app as I don't have a smartphone. So I can't really help test it. But I wanted to bring it to your attention.

yeah, the person logs in but they can't move, just chat and send commands.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'm putting this at lower priority than a few of the issues I'm working through today, so I might not get to it today. However, do you have access to the app or know someone who does? I'd like to put together a test plugin to figure out what this is doing that's revealing players.

I got MC Chat for Android, not exactly the MineChat for iPhone.
Can help if needed.

@bitfreeze could you test it out on a server to see if you see vanished players on the list?

commented

Got any server where to test it and the name of an invisible guy? Our
server has Bungee so it will always show the invisible guys no matter what
(until we get a Bungee plugin blah blah).

I'd like to put together a bungee plugin actually, though I don't know what the exact limitations will be when it comes to that.

As for server for testing, I could probably get someone to sign on vanished at some point on one of mine. Would require coordination though.
