laser connection problems

I run a server on the new direwolf20 curse mod pack. 1.10.2 with a large energy laser network. I'm having problems with lasers disconnecting without me touching them, i thought maybe there was a limit due to the fact that i have well over 100 lasers connected together. but everybody says that the lasers should not be unconnecting like they are. not the whole network is loaded at the same time, maybe this is the problem? can the lasers get overloaded? all lasers are first tear. i've had one disconnection with liquid lasers transporting lava. but maybe twenty- thirty disconnections in energy lasers.

Please post some screenshots of your setup, and also please submit the actuallyadditionsdata0.dat file from your world/data folder if you are in the overworld, otherwise the file from your world/dimX/data folder instead.

will do

So, the connections just disappear? Both on the client and on the server (as in both the energy transfer and the renderer)?
When exactly does it happen? Only when chunks are unloaded and then reloaded? Or when you exit the world or change the dimension?

commented

i change the dimension, by going into the deep dark, and when i return with a charged porter sometimes the lasers with disconnect. visually and effectively. reopening the world doesn't reconnect the lasers.

commented

will* will disconnect

commented

I still need the connection file please.

commented

Also, please give me the full log of an instance where this happened.

commented

the file is saved as a DAT file and opens with wordpad.
i opened it but its just a bunch of jibberish. when i try to drag copy it into the reply box it says that it doesnt support that type of file.

commented

I just need the file. Upload it to some service I can download it at.

commented

can i copy and paste the actual text inside the file

commented

No. I need the file. :v

commented

Are you saying this is reproducable? Meaning, every time you visit the deep dark this happens?
Does it happen with any other dimension?

commented

yes

here is a connection that just broke due to entering the deep dark and returning

commented

You didn't answer my question fully though. Does it happen with any other dimensions?

commented

not that i have seen

commented

Okay, I will compile a debug version that creates log output when removing/adding connections, so that I can test this better. I will send you the version in a couple of minutes.

commented

but when reconnection broken joints. other connections will sometimes break. as if there's a limit to the number of connections. the new broken connections are usually at the other end of the base so maybe caused by unloading with my usually small render distance

commented

That doesn't really make any sense either, because adding connections doesn't effect already existing ones. :v

commented

could it be that some chunks are loaded when im away from the base and others aren't?

commented

Please try what happened before out after installing this exact jar: http://puu.sh/tl5kH/05d918c2a3.jar
Meaning switching dimensions and everything else you did to break the connections. It would also be good if you could send a message in chat along the lines of "Entering deep dark" and "Arrived in deep dark" etc, so that I have some more context when reading the log.
Please send me the full log of that testing after.

commented

alright

[Removed because it makes this thread harder to read]

commented

this log is from earlier today

commented

That's not even half the log, and it doesn't contain any of the important part either. Please use gist or pastebin.

commented

i recreated the issue this time by simply flying away from the base and then back, it seems to have something to do with the lasers being unloaded then reloaded

commented

I tried for a long time, even in the world you were in, to recreate this issue, and I was unable to.
I have no idea what's causing it, but it seems no one else ever had this problem yet, because I have never seen a report similar to this one.

commented

very odd

commented

i just got lasers to disconnect in another world!

commented

i used a charged porter and a matter reciever

commented

so the connections are only broken if you pop into the world close to the lasers and they connect to other lasers outside of your render distance!

commented

Tried that, couldn't reproduce it.

commented

and your render distance was set low?

commented

I set my render distance to two chunks, made a long line of Lasers, then connected them all, chunkloaded a couple of the chunks, and then flew away and back and also went into the deep dark and nether and back.

commented

make a long line, put a nether portal at one end, make all the lasers right next to eachother, make sure the line goes outside the two chunk render distance, go into the nether and come back a couple times. if the lasers are all still conencted then we can drop it i guess

commented

because in my testing the lasers that get disconnected are close together and right at the border of unloaded and loaded.

commented

didnt use any chunk loading this time

commented

I am still unable to reproduce this issue.

commented

did you try using a charged porter without any chunk loading around the area

commented

Yes.

commented

im having another person try to replicate this.

commented

can you send me a screen shot of your test setup?

commented

You mean one of my five test setups?
I have put so much time into this and tested various different versions, including a direct copy of your setup. This is irreproducable.

commented

alright. I give up. I don't know why it's not happening to you. I don't know what else to do.

commented

Sorry, I guess this has to be some sort of edge-case.. somehow.
This game can be weird.

commented

alright i created a new log with the new debug you sent me

commented

do you have an email i can send the log to?

commented

the log size is 40,000 KB does that sound right?

commented

Just upload the log to Github gist or pastebin.

commented

https://gist.github.com has no size limit.

commented

paste bin says the entity is to large and github gives me a 405

here is the connection that i just put into the log

commented

will do

commented

Hmm.. zip the file up and use a file sharing website like https://transfer.sh/ instead.

commented

im sorry this is taking so long ellpeck. I really am. its uploading now

commented

please tell me i did everything right

commented

i typed "entering deep dark" "leaving deep dark" "found broken connection" "fixed broken connection" before wach action

commented

each

commented

Can you try reproducing this issue on a different world?
I don't need a log or anything for that, just need to know if it's world dependent.

commented

yes, i will try

commented

In the log that you sent me, did you re-add the connections that were missing before exiting the world at the end?

commented

seems like the issue is world dependant

commented

yes i reconnected some of them

commented

So you couldn't manage to get this to happen on any other world?
Okay, please send the entire world folder through some file sharing service like the one you used before. You might have to zip it up.

commented

yes, will do.

commented

correction* it seems like going into the nether also causes lasers to disconnect. but it seems more sever with the deep dark

commented

And does it only happen on this one world, or does it happen on every world with the same setup?

commented

i made a copy of the world and ran through the same steps and there were laser disconnections

commented

are you able to recreate this?

commented

Not in the slightest.
Also, your base is just not there. I see the slime island and the meteor as seen in your screenshots, but your base is just gone :v

Do you use additional mods that aren't part of the modpack by default?

commented

no just the standard dirwolf20 modpack in the cursed launcher

commented

it would take a while, but i could send you my curse folder in entirety

commented

or perhaps my mod pack folder

commented

would you want me to do that

commented

If you aren't already on it, update to the newest version of the pack and see if the issue persists.

commented

updating now

commented

Could you please explain how it's possible that the world you sent me doesn't contain your base? :V

commented

I have no idea. absolutely no idea. i could understand a couple blocks missing but the entire world reverting back to seed is weird.

commented

so what version of the mod pack are you running on

commented

1.3.2?

commented

The newest, so 1.3.2.

commented

Yes.
