I just didn't like the idea of finding a chest inside something that supposedly fell from space.

Solution(s)

I think it would make more sense for ore blocks (eg. deepslate diamond ore) to generate in the center of the meteors that spawn in the overworld. These could be diamond ores or a random ore each time or maybe even a mix of a few ores at once.
