Copper blocks do not oxidize and cannot be waxed (either in world or by crafting).

Additional notes:
Regular copper blocks (i.e. not cut copper) cannot be cut directly into the vertical blocks.
In order to obtain the vertical copper variants, you can use already oxidized/waxed copper to craft them.
