I don't know if it's an issue with AP or MP but both mods work if the other one isn't installed.

I think RichardG was trying to use some items/blocks before they were initialized. Mod load order and all that.

However, I admit that AP loads unusually (code from ml days). I may use some more advanced forge loading in the future.

Is there a special location where I can get u33?

u33 is still not very well tested and lacks a few textures. You can build it yourself if need be, but I haven't built it yet.
