In vanilla Minecraft, there are a number of items that don't have custom wood types yet -- crafting tables, chests, and now barrels. Although it is a bit janky, it is at least possible to use your weird new purple wood from the Nether update, and e.g. make a chest.

Similarly, adding support for external wood types to Adorn (e.g., for BYG woods) may take a long while. In the meantime, it'd be a good idea to add 'generic' set of items that are kind of orangey-yellow so that they fit in with stock Minecraft wood items. The idea is that if there's no more specific support for wood type X, it'd simply craft into the generic item. (Maybe oak?)
