I have made sure with the IP projector to build the structure correctly, but either the multiblock isn't working or it is particular about which block to click on to create the loom - no info is available on this in the IE book or curseforge page.

Yes it is particular about which block to click - pretty sure it is one of the light engineering blocks. I will make it more clear in the next update.
