These are features for version 2.1, which will contain the addition of two new biomes, along with some other potential features.
NOTE: This update will likely not be on 1.19.2. It will likely however be on 1.20.2/1.20.4, although this depends on the base Aether mod.

unrelated to biomes:

  • Implement some things from the cancelled Aether Graviton addon
  • Veridium Armor Trim material
  • Refactor API features into separate library mod

New Biome: Quickoil Dunes / Quicksoil Oasis:

  • Non-slippery quicksoil-based surface block (similar to soul soil when compared to soul sand)
  • Dry shrubbery of some sort
  • Holystone rock formations?
  • Evaluate the possibility of making terrain gen in this biome flatter
  • Cacti, potentially think of a unique design rather than just normal cacti
  • Potentially an accessory/boot type to make traversing on quicksoil easier
  • Prevent base mod gold dungeons from spawning (preferably without removing from #aether:is_aether) and use alternate ones with cacti
  • Speaking of which, cacti
  • Skulls of some sort? (Maybe add a cow skull, a bit cliché but it could be neat)
  • flower for cacti, use a similar method to spore blossoms from vanilla for their model
  • Some kind of sandstorm-like enemy? Maybe take inspiration from the new Breeze mob but make it sandy (with swirly particles perhaps?)

New Biome: Shimmering Hills (Crystal tree biome):

  • Implement worldgen feature for fruitless crystal trees
  • Plants: Purple flower, Daggerbloom, splitfern, Chromias (placeholder name)
  • Use a grass color somewhere between frosted and normal grass colors
  • Crystal hedgehog?
  • Shimmering Crystal Trees (will glow a bit, some leaves may have glowing pod-like things in them, perhaps could be harvested with shears and used for… something idk)
  • Crystal Saplings
  • Enchanted Crystal saplings, which give the fruit tree (but take longer than most items to enchant)
  • Shimmerfly (butterfly), maybe add a variation to the gilded groves as well (Goldenwing?)
  • Maybe reimplement the Moonbud in this biome
