no idea what is wrong. I am using the pre-released version (it fixes botania flowers)

Specifically the mutation of blue orchid + pink tulip -> lapender isn't working.

didn't realize it needed the ore as the farmland.

would it be the lapis ore block for the lapis or a block of lapis ?

If you're using 1.3+ then it will say the baseblock in the NEI mutation handler.
You really should be using 1.3+.
