I'm running the latest version and saw that this issue was marked as fixed but it does still happen occasionally.

Very rarely, the user can still fly even after the effect has worn off. Leaving and rejoining fixes the issue.

This has now happened 3-4 times on my multiplayer server, it is extremely rare but is a pretty big problem when it does happen.
