Trying to locate new biomes and structures using Structure locating mods causes the items to be destroyed

I am currently playing survival mode on a mod collection
on forge1.20.1 and I am using the mods
1.Nature's compass 1.20.1-1.11.2
2.Explorers compass 1.20.1-1.3.2
I noticed that on survival mode, when trying to locate the modded biomes or structures it will instantly destroy the item instantly but works just fine on creative mode.
I noticed that there is no way to disable this feature in the config files. Will there be functionality to do so in the future or does a workaround exist?
