Despite the compendium stating they have a low detection range, they can detect the player from a very long range (<20 blocks), higher than most hostile mobs.

I would also like to add that it effects their ritual and so kinda hard to get watchers & forsakens to spawn.
(tho also op you wouldn't happen to have far sighted mobs installed right?)
