The Achievement/Advancement for Lithic Literature is part of the Ancient Spellcraft tree (1.1.3), with the following unlock requirements listed:
Research a Stone Tablet with the Sphere of Cognizance
Yet even after researching a dozen various tablets, one of which I even turned into a Ancient Spell Book with the Scribing Table (another achievement that was cleared), this one achievement/advancement remains unobtainable.

Update: dunno if it's related, but another quirk of the Sphere of Cognizance is that identifying Grand Stone Tablets will consume 2 Magic Crystals if present in the GUI, but will also work if only 1 is available.
