I was browsing the issues and saw something about coral. I thought it strange that a swamp would have coral, since coral can only survive in saltwater. Then I had an idea: deeper waters in the betweenlands should have pools of brine, which mire coral grows in. The brine would be toxic if you swam in it, and could be collected in a bucket and evaporated to make salt, which could be useful if food decay is ever added.

These form because brine is denser than water, and thus sinks to the bottom.
