Any ideas?

EDIT: Appears this has to do with Apotheosis & Biomes O' Plenty/Fruit Trees mod on the instance with multiple mods. But there's a case where Sugarcane will have a pink checkerboard even on a clean instance.

Clarification: When Apotheosis is together with either Biomes O' Plenty or Fruit Trees Mod the textures of Transparant Blocks become non-transparant, black/white textures sometimes pink checkerboard. As shown on the images above and below here;
