cover panels not stopping daylight and torch light

Description

I ran cabels all through my 9 x 9 direwolf20 style house and placed some light panels in with matching covers front and back of them to make it look neat and now daylight and light from torches comes in my house full blast. Even at night there is no point in lighting my house because the torches outside give it enough light. Please help, plus the torches are not placed on any cover blocks. Torches and charged crystal light fixtures both do the same.

That is simply the way minecraft works. A block can either be transparent or not, but not switch between depending on some state.

Maybe 1.13 will be a bit more flexible, but I mostly doubt it. Thus closing for now.

there's no way to change it at all? D:
Other mods achieve it, Extra Utilities dark glass, MrCrayfish's Furniture mod's blinds.

These two items stop light when closed... Why can't a cable do that when it's covered with panels and blocks till none of the cable is exposed?

commented

Because they do not have to care about changing the block also deleting the cable and every other attached part.

So you're saying it can be done but it's too much work. I took java a couple years ago. Maybe I could help/make an addon.

You know forge multiblock from 1.7.10 achieves the same with pipes within the same block. It's possible. Perhaps you could work with multiparts?
