With Forge providing ways to save additional data per world or dimension without any additional custom file handling, it would reduce the complexity quite a bit by dropping our custom handling in 1.13.

Mostly in terms of a very rare race conditions not correctly updating the current world directory or should issue related to the filesystem arise for various reasons. Which should be mostly prevented by forge already.

However some systems like the compassdata are currently multithreaded (read access). Which could be a potential issue for the provided options.
