Yes, this mod was written from the ground up. It was not made with a mod toolkit like MCCreator.

As in game engine? It an api they use called Forghe, I would assume, they use the Forge api.... I would think unless I have been under a rock for too long....... I hope forge is still the way to go..

Yea kinda like that but this mod was probably made in Eclipse. I can't speak for them though.
