Nicer way to work with lots of P2P tunnels with a memory card: https://youtu.be/MOisuXib-94?t=2160. Just to write this down for now, needs more thinking.

I think they are using this mod: https://github.com/LasmGratel/BetterP2P

Keno#0316 here!

Relating to the BetterP2P mod (https://github.com/LasmGratel/BetterP2P):

From what I saw in the mod, you hold an advanced memory card and it shows everything. When working with a massive controller, that could be found as a bit cluttered. And the north, south, east, west direction would be great if a lot of designs didn't have p2p tunnels in multiple directions per sub-controller. In this case, possibly using the advanced memory controller to right click the ME Controller to bind it to only that network, and seeing which P2Ps are connected to just it, instead of having to see everything. The ME Controller I'm building that has this problem is below:

2023-05-04_13 27 08

Though, most people won't be making something this large in the end anyway. I'll probably keep dropping ideas and problems here as I continue working on it in game, hoping to use all 20,000+ channels available.

From Keno#0316 on the AE2 discord:

This is all from the current AoF6 Modpack version of AE2: appliedenergistics2-fabric-12.9.3.jar

  1. The Memory Cards don't seem to display any data other than it has data from a P2P Tunnel, but not any frequency, coordinates, or anything. I would suggest that when you copy the device configuration, the frequency should be listed in the "lore" of the memory card and possibly even coordinates.
  2. Building onto # 1, possibly a key-bind or another item that allows you to: Hold the Memory Card with the copied device configuration -> place a set of "IT" goggles on your head -> it highlights the P2P tunnel that is sending and P2P tunnel that is receiving in different colors to allow us to more easily pinpoint a P2P origin in a large cluster of P2P tunnels.
  3. Lastly, instead of holding shift to copy a device configuration, possibly a key-bind to hold or even something like below (the picture) could work as a way to copy device configuration so you don't accidetnally shift right click on a receiving P2P tunnel and then having to go search for the sending P2P tunnel to fix it.

I will probably have more ideas as time goes on, but these are my biggest problems when building something large scale.

The card doesn't just show everything. It has a sortable/searchable list of all your named p2p channels that you can choose from on the fly, when setting up new tunnels - it eliminates the whole loop of looking at a p2p tunnel, noting frequency, going to controller and checking every-single-p2p-tunnel until you find the one matching the frequency on the other end.

In a massive network of p2p tunnels this item is a life saver.
Would love to see it ported to modern versions of Minecraft - or implemented directly in AE2, LasmGratel willing.
