Other mods I use use mB and not typing the dot imo is slightly more convenient than typing it. I think a config switch between mB and B can be handy in interfaces, both in pattern encoder, pattern tooltips and terminal interface.

Additional details

Amounts for recipes should still default to 1 bucket or 1000 millibucket though to avoid confusion. One thing to look out for would be if add-ons like Applied Mekanistics would support such change and display chemicals in user preferred units without any code changes in AM.
