Aquatic torches when placed on the top surface of a block drop as normal, but when placed on the side of a block and destroyed, they do not drop anything at all.

Me, neither. They don't drop anything whereever they are placed.

for me they dont even drop when placed on top of a block. (aquatictorches-1.20.1-fabric-1.0.1.jar)

Yeah, I can't get them to drop no matter how I place them.

Still happening for 1.20.1 Fabric. Will probably look for alternatives instead.
