it should be displayed after just after doing things that require mana, having it all the time is not good imo
also it should be a bar or something better than an icon with numbers with no shadow...

As of 0.2.0, there is a config option available to have the mana bar display with certain items. I originally had a mana bar in place, but it did not fit well the game and was difficult to read.
