Happens pretty frequently, but not 100% of the time.

Also, Hiking Boots conflicts with the bug fixes from Vanillafix. Other step assist mods don't(that I've tested so far) so I'm not sure if that's an issue for you or them. Can be avoided by disabling the fixes in their config.
