No longer able to connect item pipes to Grindstone

in Direwolf20 1.12.2 v1.7.1 I was able to send crystals to the grindstone. Server updated to v1.8.0 and it seems we cannot connect to the grindstone any longer?

It was never supposed to work that way. So if it doesn't anymore, well it was never meant to in the first place.
