i dropped the mod into my mods folder and now the game will immediately crash on attempting to load. i remove it and it works fine.

does your mod have any dependencies on other mods? what version of those is necessary?

okay i figured it out. i installed the 2.0.0 version for 1.18.2 because curseforge shows it as the latest version. your 1.19 version is still marked as beta.
