I use baritone in the nether for mining quartz and ancient debris, but it will sometimes go the the surface to get around large lava pockets. The player can then easily be killed by various mobs.

Settings

A maximum y level setting, probably tied to dimension (such that it can go to the surface in the overworld but not the nether).

Context

This will allow users to restrict it to stay underground, which as previously mentioned can help with hostile mob avoidance. It would also allow pathing close to other paths without them combining.
