Why would you choose the version number "1.18.3" rather than, what would seem more suitable "1.18.2.1"?

I'm just curious why you choose the version number "1.18.3" rather than, what would seem more suitable "1.18.2.1"?
Seems you would have saved yourself a lot of support issues if the version number was a clearer relation to the Minecraft version number.
We chose 1.8.3 not 1.18.3
Also we can't tell beforehand whether the next minor mc version will be compatible and since this is afaik the first breaking change on a minor mc version since Baritone exists (almost 4 years) it seems pretty sensible to just assume it will be compatible. As wag already said it would be a lot more wasted effort if we convinced users that Baritone only works on specific minor releases rather than major releases.
For our versioning scheme:
- Not sure what would need to happen to increase the 1 at the start of the version number
- Count up a major version on major mc versions (1.2.* -> 1.12., 1.3. -> 1.13., 1.4. -> 1.14.* etc)
- Count up a minor version every Baritone release
