Just randomly found this post and after reading thought I'd say that maybe finding out which fish are spawning too much and limiting spawns with the In Control mod ( or through the fish's own mod it's from) could be a way around this and also this is probably some sort of spawn cap issue too so maybe the Universal Tweaks mod with custom lowered spawn cap settings in its config files could help.
Can you upload the better_diving.cfg file from the config folder? (as a file not as text)
So from my testing it works fine. Without a way to reproduce the issue i can't really do something.
Watching, issue same here, none of the above mods I have besides Ice and Fire. I changed the config but they still exist even after a precise kill command. The corpses never went anywhere either.

I use BetterDiving-1.12.2-1.5.8.jar on a minecraft forge server 1.12.2
I've tried to modify the config file but there are too much fishs wich spawn
here my modifications :

For the moment i try to limit better_diving tick usage by forgeChunkLoading.cfg
I'm having this issue too. I've turned entity spawning off in the config but still have absurd armies of fish in the ocean. Really hope this can be fixed, it's causing a lot of lag issues.

That image doesn't really tell me anything. But I assume the oceans look like in the first picture of this issue.
But I am unable to reproduce the issue in Engineers Life. That means I still can't work on a fix.
Is it not possible to lower the fish spawn rate by 10 percent at least? It's a little absurd, and quite lag inducing. It also becomes an entity nightmare if you have another mod like IceandFire, because the sea serpent kills ANYTHING in the water, including the modded fish, causing an absurb amount of item drops, either way reducing the fish spawn rate would be really useful.
would it help if I shared entire server in a zip? the issue persists even with spawns disabled, they still spawn
