Optifine custom biome colormaps not being applied to non-oak leaves

Hi, I'm a moderator of a server that's been using this mod since 1.7.10, and it adds a really nice touch to our nature. However, ever since we upgraded to minecraft version 1.11.2, we've been having biome shading issues with birch, jungle, and spruce leaf blocks:

Our resource pack uses Optifine's custom colormap capabilities for birch, jungle, and spruce, as defined in assets/minecraft/mcpatcher/colormap. Birch and spruce use birch.png and pine.png, respectively. Jungle doesn't come with a colormap by default in Optifine, however we defined foliagejungle.png in color.properties to be a custom colormap for jungle leaves as well.
From what I understand, the issue is that BetterFoliage doesn't support these custom colormaps, and instead applies the vanilla hard-coded one.
Is there any way to fix this, so that the Extra Leaves are generated only after all colormaps are applied to a base leaf texture? Ideally it'd do this in a way that supports modded blocks and colormaps as well. This feature seemed to work fine in 1.7.10, so I'm not really sure what changed.
Thank you for your consideration!

It still is an issue in 2.1.8, at least in the 1.10.2 version. Although I'm not sure it is the same issue, since I don't use any resource pack. It occurs in all modded and vanilla biomes. The extra leaves and the short grass (deactivated in the screenshot) are all this basic green everywhere.
