Extra Leaves not working with Optifine/Mcpatcher custom biome colors for each tree

The issue is that the biome colors implemented by optifine don't match the biome colors used by Extra Leaves. This used to work in 1.7.10, but no longer works in 1.9.4. Example picture: http://imgur.com/3wmJ8TN
I also have this problem. betterfoliage uses the colors from the normal foliage.png, or the hardcoded birch and spruce colors via the BlockContext.BlockData, but optifine's custom colors allow the resourcepack to specify alternate png's in assets/minecraft/mcpatcher/colormap. Either there is an alternate/approved way betterfoliage should be pulling block colors in the render method, or optifine failed to hook the BlockContext.BlockData properly. My hunch is optifine.
It occurs in all biomes. The leaf colors match when Optifine is not installed, as the leaf blocks do not have the custom colors given to them by Optifine. With Optifine installed, the custom biome color, which can be different for each type of leaf block even in the same biome, is applied to the leaf blocks but not the Better Foliage extra leaves model.
