While trying to play better tridents with a mod im in the progress of making i've found that custom made PersistentProjectileEntity's do not work with tridents going into the correct slot

Better Tridents isn’t designed to work with other mods. Most of the trident implementation is hardcoded, so it’s not really possible to support other mods without dedicated integration for each one which isn’t worth it for me.
