In Legacy4J, the trident fragment doesn't show up in the creative menu and the trident recipe doesn't show up in the crafting menu. I know you said that the code was hardcoded so compatibility needed to be manually added. But having the new features show up in a menu should be easy enough, but I get it if it's not.

That’s certainly something better than on their end, I don’t think it’s very maintainable if every single mod were to implement this in their own.
They probably have some data-driven api for that would be my guess.
