- Minecraft Version:1.11.2
- BetterFps Version: 1.4.5
- Forge/LiteLoader Version (if any):
- Crash Logs (if any):
- Other Mods (if any): battle towers, bibliocraft, blackings, tinker's construct, rogue like dungeons, invent pets, optifine, Iron chest, Toro's health damage indicator, Xaero's minimap, tree chopper
In the second picture you look at two textures on some blocks, that is easy to render. On the first one you have a lot more blocks and textures to render and additional the semi-transparency of water. If you'd look directly at a solid-block wall you fps will be even better^^
The comparison is not fair if you look in different directions/regions.
Srry I thought it was something else making my fps fluctuate, I just screenshotted it at both of their bests, I'm gonna try to compare them again
the 64 fps is without better fps and the 46 fps is with better fps, why did this happen?
For testing, I recommend leaving the game open for 5 minutes in the same position.
You should try changing the algorithm, that's what changes the FPS the most, and it depends on your computer. Some computers work better with certain algorithms, other others don't.
Some notes about "messuring" performance:
- Best use the Optifine fps counter (if OF is used) "Video Settings" >> "Other..." >> "Show FPS" , because the F3 screen does reduce the performance quite a lot, especially on PC's with (very) slow CPU.
- In order to be fair and near the real world performance, use a complex/hard to render scene like a view into the rainforest.
- Before both measurements restart the game and wait for 5 minutes without moving, Java optimizes Minecraft during the first minutes, the fps fluctuate during that time. Additionally you can be sure everything is loaded after that time
- Do not have anything else open while benchmarking.
It might however be that BetterFPS does really not/barely help.
- Some algorithms are slower than the vanilla one. And (in my experience, on my computer) only riven's are faster than Optifine's "Fast Math" option.
- BetterFPS (in my experience) helps most in CPU bound scenarios, but you specs hint toward the GPU bottlenecking. In this case BetterFPS will not help your fps much. (on my pc it helped not at all till i got a new graphic card that leads to minecraft being slowed down by my cpu, rather than my gpu)
@Guichaguri you maybe could add the information what algorithm is used to the F3 screen,
and add Optifine's "Fast Math" algorithm to BetterFPS's algorithms if Optifine is installed. (i think it is another algorithm as it does modify the sin() and cos() functions, according to the tooltip) In the moment BetterFPS does simply overwrite it.
